Compression is a process used in
audio production to reduce the dynamic range of an
audio signal by attenuating the loudest parts and amplifying the softest parts of the signal. It is used to reduce the overall volume of a signal, improve the signal-to-noise ratio, and even out the dynamic range of a signal.
