Crossover is a term used in
audio production to describe a device or circuit that divides an incoming
audio signal into two
frequency bands, typically a low-frequency band and a high-frequency band. The
frequency bands are then routed to separate
output channels, allowing separate treatment of each band. Crossovers are commonly used in sound reinforcement systems to separate the low-frequency signals from the highs, allowing the sound engineer to optimize the system for the intended venue.
